Good News!
Hi Pilgrims,
Lot’s has been happening with RAW since I last updated! I’m now based out of St John The Evangelist Church, Raymond Terrace where I am Priest in Charge. We have been regularly celebrating the Holy Eucharist and have adopted daily prayer as a way of being community.
We are looking now at what ‘Good News’ means to us. What is the good news of Christ? What is good news to us? How can we encourage a spirit of good news in a cynical world that only wants to share bad news?
Here’s the resource for you to ponder these things:
Wonder well my friends,

Prayer Cycle!
Hey Pilgrims,
We start a new cycle this week and it’s on prayer. Get thinking about the place of prayer in your life. Perhaps you haven’t given it much thought or attention over the years; well, here’s a good excuse to start.
Here’s the resource:RAW Prayer I
See you at the gathering, or I’ll read you on the posts!

Eucharist Cycle
Hey Pilgrims! We’re in a cycle looking at the Eucharist (Mass, Holy Communion) and what
elements is encompasses for us. Check out the resources page for free downloadable resources if you want to gather wherever you are to discuss. If you’re in the Newcastle area then feel free to contact us.

Fr Chris
Re-Launch of site! News…
The term ‘Pilgrim’ always conjures up John Wayne movies for me, but nonetheless I like the term. It gives the feeling of journeying, of growing, of moving but in a direction, with some sort of orientation. Whatever the RAW Community is becoming we are oriented by the Gospel of Christ, whether we are people of faith or not.
We have been exploring many things since the last update; our values, what motivates us and more recently the parables of Jesus. We continue to meet every second Friday at 1730H at St Francis’ Rectory, Brocklesby Rd, Medowie for food, discussion and prayer. I’ll try to put some of the resources up on this site if my IT ability allows me to!
It’s been great to welcome new pilgrims on the journey as we slowly grow into a community walking with the ancients and dwelling in the mystery. When we welcome pilgrims we welcome growth and change; every person that joins us reshapes us and we learn from the interaction. We’d love to welcome you if you are around the Medowie / Tilligerry / Williamtown area (or further if you’re game!). Feel free to contact Fr Chris Yates on 4982 9173 / 04588 29199 for a conversation.
We hope to begin sharing the Eucharist / Communion / Mass / Lord’s Supper on Sundays soon as this ancient connection to Christ holds a mystery worth dwelling on. Watch this space for times / dates. Feel free to make a suggestion as to what time would be best. Parish Eucharist (at the church) is at 0930H and is complete by 1030H so any time after this would be okay.
Let us know what you think…
BBQ Indoors (rained out)
Last night’s community meal was accompanied by rain. Lots of rain. It poured, and any hopes we had of enjoying a summery evening outdoors were washed away. Instead, we dined inside and pondered what it means to be a community in this place… in this time…
RAW Community Meal, Australia Day Breakfast
An integral part of RAW is meeting as a community to share a meal. On Australia Day, we met together and enjoyed a BBQ breakfast and some fellowship. . . After all, Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast” (John 21:12 ).
